but marriage started as, and should stay, one of seven catholic sacraments. to demand that YOU should have the right to get married for whatever reason that you cannot get married is impeding on a gift reserved for those within the church. reasons as to why the government does not grant the same (financial) benefits to civil unions as they do to marriages is completely beyond me, but the reason why the government even has the right to grant any couple a catholic sacrament is out of line. separation of church and state
